This unique interconnect permits the sourcing of Component Video, together with analogue stereo audio, from a SCART enabled video source such as a Satellite TV box (e.g. Foxtel/Pace in Australia with "YUV" supporting firmware), all in a high quality EVOLUTION-S package. The advantage of the EVOLUTION-S series lies with the higher resolution yield due to the silver plating on the primary conductors.

Alternatively the switch on the SCART connector can be used to select input mode to SCART, making the cable suitable for use with a regular RCA equipped AV source device, to be connected to a TV with component video supporting SCART input. As the RGB video channels in a SCART connector are bi-directional, the switch only influences the directionality of the audio channels.
